Our Story

John Dion founded “John Dion Label Printing” in 1969 in his basement using only two printing presses, a paper cutter, a plate maker, and a small label maker. Dion formerly worked for a New England plastics molding company that specialized in plastic dishware. When the company began outsourcing its production to the south, Dion began a label printing company in which he could satisfy the printing needs of the plastic molding company as well as others.

Dion went to work processing the artwork, plates, and actual printing. His wife, Jane, became a key component helping him gather materials and perform accounting procedures. John Dion Label Printing grew so large that John had to move his business to the garage! As more printing companies began requesting labels John Dion Label Printing grew profitable enough to hire an employee, acquire an additional printing press and move to a space above its main client Kellogg Brush Company in Chicopee, MA. While John fulfilled orders, he made sure Kellogg always had its shelves stocked with labels.

In 1981, John’s son Dave Dion joined the business and the company changed its name to Dion Label Printing, Inc. The company moved its location to a newly built 5,000 square foot facility in Westfield, Massachusetts. However, the family owned and operated business was not officially complete until two years later in 1983 when John’s older son, John Dion Jr., joined the business.

Forty years after our debut in John Dion’s basement, the once small Dion Label Printing, Inc. has gone through several changes and expansions. We now own many digital and conventional presses. Our facility has gone through 3 major expansions to its present 30,000 square feet.  What once consisted of a one man show has now increased to over 60 employees and 6 major departments. Dion Label Printing continues to grow and adapt to better meet the needs of each and every client.
