Label Review: BRANDLESS

Brandless is an online store that launched this past summer. Created by Tina Sharkey and Ido Leffler, Brandless offers, “unrivaled quality products without BrandTax™ - the hidden costs that come with buying a national brand.” On the website you will find everyday household items, of the highest quality, sold at a fraction of the cost.

While branding yourself as Brandless is a bit of an oxymoron, we can get behind their mission. We also think their label design is worth noting. Each label features an opaque color as the background, for example the virgin coconut oil uses white, the toilet bowl cleaner uses blue and the acai berry lip balm uses a very red. A white square or rectangle with rounded corners is centered at the front of the product and contains the product name and depending on the size of the product, a checklist of features. A matte finish only adds to the simplicity of the label. The straightforward aesthetic reflects their mission, “Brandless aims to keep it simple, so hopefully everyone can easily find Just What Matters™ to them.”
